Founded by a couple with a strong worldwide network of contacts but no formal communications experience,
this gay athletes' support group needed help setting its brand identity and communicating a mission that was
still being crystallized. Before the legally established nonprofit group began fundraising, the foundation
asked Gargiulo + Partners to help define and articulate its identity.
Working with the founders on a pro bono basis, we developed a mission statement and a comprehensive
communications plan to raise both awareness and funds. Partnering with a design firm, we selected a
marketing name and logo, crafted taglines and helped set up the foundation's web brand. We developed
a promotional brochure that used the founding couple's history to tell the story of the organization
and to set out its mission, distinguishing it from other groups in the same space. All of our work was
conducted on a timetable set by our own communications plan, culminating in a kickoff event at the Sydney
Gay Olympic Games. The event attracted hundreds of people, many of whom expressed admiration not only
for the foundation's mission but for its communications polish on startup.
To extend its reach, the foundation recently partnered with a larger not-for-profit association. Gargiulo + Partners continues to provide communications advice and services to the expanding foundation as it serves the global LGBT community.
